Phillip Abernathy, Retired Minister, Dies At Age 95
Philip Abernathy, 95-year-old retired farmer and Missionary Baptist minister, died Wednesday at a Morrilton hospital. Mr. Abernathy was born in 1858 at Big Fork in Polk County, a son of the late James and Mary Vandiver Abernathy. He remained in the community of his birth until coming to Morrilton in 1949. He was holder of a life membership in the Masonic Lodge at Mena.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm today at the Big Fork Cemetery by Paul Sanders, Church of Christ minister. Graveside services will be held by the Mena Masonic Lodge. Burial will be in charge of Reid Funeral Home.
