Dorothy was born at home on Thanksgiving Day November 24, 1927, first daughter of Everett Gooch and Velera (Moorman) Gooch. During her childhood the family moved from Ardmore, Oklahoma to Toledo, Ohio to Nederland, Texas then to Midland, Michigan. She started singing in Junior High and during High School she participated in Gilbert & Sullivan musicals. In 1949 she met her future husband Warren "Pete" Virgil and they were married on June 16, 1950 which was her parents 25th wedding anniversary. To them was born a son Douglas Warren and a daughter Claudia Jean. Pete proceeded her in death (1978) and she died January 30 1993. She loved to sing, play golf, travel, collect antique salt dishes, and was an amateur genealogist.
