GOWRIE — Robert L. Royster, 68, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the Gowrie Care Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Gowrie, with Pastor Jane Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Callender Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie.

Survivors include his wife, Colleen, of Gowrie; son, Ryan Royster and Tracy Geopfert, of Callender; daughter, Roberta Dawster and Babbs Dawster, of Gowrie; grandchildren, Megan and Logan Royster, Abby Hinners, and Ashely Dawster; great-grandchild, Ayden Hinners; brothers, Norman Royster and his wife, Roxanne, of Blair, Neb. and Bill Royster, of Davenport; sisters, Joyce Baldwin and her husband Jim, of Shenandoah, Doris Lind and her husband, Terry, of Austin, Minn., and Bev Veenbass and her husband Dave, of Fairfield, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Nellie (Richie) Royster, and an infant twin sister, Roberta.

Robert Logan Royster was born Oct. 28, 1939, at Brushy Creek near Lehigh. He was baptized in the United Methodist Church in Lehigh and also attended schools there. Bob farmed with his father in the Brushy Creek area. He was united in marriage with Colleen Anderson on April 3, 1965, at Fort Dodge. He was employed at Land O'Lakes and also farmed the Anderson Family farm. In 1969, they moved to the Slifer area where they farmed until their retirement in 2001. Bob was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church of Lundgren, Slifer Church of the Brethern, Farnhamville, Lions Club, Farm Bureau, Pheasants Forever, North American Fishing and Hunting Club. Bob enjoyed fishing with his wife, children and grandchildren. Memorials may be left at the discretion of the family.
