Mrs. Effie Margaret Vaughn, 77, wife of John M. Vaughn, of Austinville, VA, died at her home Saturday, August 29, 1959. Born in Wythe County, October 10, 1881, she was the daughter of the late Bud Flanagan and Effie McGee Flanagan. Surviving Mrs. Vaughn, besides her husband, are five sons, Garlen Vaughn, Lee Vaughn and Harvey Vaughn, all of Austinville, Glen Vaughn, of Woodlawn, and Daniel Vaughn, of Galax; three daughters, Mrs. Artie Lindsey, Hillsville, Mrs. Olean Cox, Woodlawn, and Mrs. Opal Jones of Reidsville, NC, 39 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, August, 30, at 2 p.m. in the Pleasant View Church with Rev. Percy King and Rev. Raymond Carpenter officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
