Mrs. Mary "Mamie" Fahey Died Yesterday: Services Will Be Here Saturday

Mrs. Mary "Mamie" Fahey, 87, formerly of Edina, died at 8:45 o'clock yesterday morning, Aug. 4, 1971, at St. Mary Hospital in Quincy. Before entering the hospital she had been in the Lincoln Terrace Nursing Home and had lived in Quincy four years moving there from Monroe City.

The body is at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home here where visitation will be after 1 o'clock tomorrow, Friday, afternoon. Rosary will be that evening at 7:30 o'clock and funeral services will be at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Thomas Duggan will officiate and burial will be in the New Catholic Cemetery.

Surviving are three daughters, Helen, Mrs. Wilbur Bishop, of Fayette, Annabeth "Betty," Mrs. Hillman Knapp, of Macon, and Rose Marie, Mrs. Thomas H. Brosig, of San Antonio, Texas, three sons, Arthur Fahey of Chillicothe, Ill., Edward Fahey of LaGrange and John J. Fahey of Milford, Mass., 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, five sisters, Mrs. Helen Haley of Monroe City, Allie, Mrs. James Turner, of Florida, Mo., Margaret, Mrs. Henry Alred, of Macon, Mrs. Oma Alred of Clarence and Zina, Mrs. John Campbell, of Anabel, and two brothers, Charles Mettes of Clarence and Oliver Mettes of Shelbina.

A daughter of William Sylvester and Filena Adkins Mettes, she was born Nov. 21, 1883, at Atlanta. She was married to John Thomas Fahey in Edina and he died Aug. 13, 1950. He was employed in the dray business while living here.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Frances, in infancy, a son, James Thomas, Dec. 30, 1934, and a brother, John Mettes.

Mrs. Fahey was born Nov. 21, 1883, in Atlanta, Mo., a daughter of William and Felina Adkins Mettes. She married John T. Fahey in Edina, Mo. He died Aug. 13, 1950.

Mrs. Fahey came to Quincy about four years ago after living in Monroe City and Edina, Mo. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina and the St. Ann Sodality of the church.

Surviving are three sons, Arthur Fahey of Chillicothe, Ed of LaGrange, Mo., and John T. [sic] Fahey of Milford, Mass., three daughters, Mrs. Wilbur [sic] (Helen) Bishop of Fayette, Mo., Mrs. Hilman (Betty) Knapp of Macon and Mrs. Thomas (Marie) Brosig of San Antonio, Tex.; two brothers, Charles Mettes of Clarence, Mo., and Oliver of Shelbina, Mo., five sisters, Mrs. Helen Haley of Monroe City, Mo., Mrs. James (Allie) Turner of Florida, Mo., Mrs. Henry (Margaret) Alred of Macon, Mo., Mrs. Oma Alred of Clarence, Mo., and Mrs. John (Zenia) Campbell of Anabel, Mo.; 18 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

A brother, James Mettes, a daughter, Francis [sic], and a son, Thomas, preceded her in death.

Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina. The Rev. Thomas Duggan will officiate. Burial will be in the New St. Joseph Cemetery in Edina. Hanses-Spear Funeral home is handling arrangements here.
