∼Born and raised in Texas, Miss M. A. Daughtrey was a granddaughter of early Texas alcalde, Elisha Roberts . . . she is enumerated in 1850 with her widowed father in Victoria County, Texas . . . she is enumerated in Austin County, Texas in 1860 and 1870 in the household of her sister, Lenora . . . unable to find her in 1880 . . . in 1900, she is still living in Austin County, Texas . . . she signs her will in California in November of 1908 . . . her sister, Elizabeth, is also buried in this Evergreen Cemetery . . . "She was loved by all who knew her and lived for the good she might do others. Her life was like a ray of sunshine. Her departure was but the transplanting of a tired spirit from a land of sin and sorrow to a land of sunshine, where the pure and good shall live forever. She was laid to rest in Glenwood [sic] Cemetery, Los Angeles, California, among the flowers she loved so well." [unknown newspaper]
