Robert D. Humes, aged 27 years, 6 months and 4 days died at the McKeesport hospital Saturday evening at 4:30 o'clock, of blood poison.
The deceased was a son of W.H. Humes of No 322 South Third street. He was employed at the local furnaces as ore inspector, and was a congenial young man. Being single he made his home with his father and sister, Miss Edna, and was the main support of the family. His mother died two years ago after an illness of several years and during that time the son was always ready and willing to provide for the home.
The deceased was taken suddenly ill less than two weeks ago and after a diagnosis of the case it was ascertained that he was suffering with appendicitis. He was removed to the McKeesport hospital December 7th, where he was operated on the same evening. While the operation was successful blood poison set in and death followed.
Funeral services were held at the late home Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock buy Rev. W.I. Guss, pastor of the First Lutheran church, of which the deceased was a member. Interment followed later at Richland cemetery.
