Mary Ann STOUTS is the daughter of Hiram STOUTS and Rosannah MCCONNELL She married George W R Smith in 1850 in Madison Co Alabama

Mary is first wife of George W. R. Smith. Due to complications she died the next day after giving birth to their only child a girl who they named Mary Ann. The child lived two weeks before she also died.

Daughter of Hiram Stotts & Rosanna McCONNELL Stotts. Both Hiram & Rosanna are buried in the Huntsville Cemetery at Huntsville, Madison County, Arkansas

Wife #1 of Captain George Washington Russell Smith. Captain Smith is NOT buried in this cemetery but is buried in Dickens Cemetery in Taney County, Missouri.

Mary Ann STOTTS Smith died the next day after giving birth to her first child, a daughter Mary Ann Smith. The baby lived 18 days before she died.

Mary Ann STOTTS Smith has two tombstones in this cemetery. The first one is a square stone and has Mary Ann's name on the west side of the stone and has Mary Smith, mother of Simon Smith (1777-1845)and grandmother of George Washington Russell Smith, on the east side of the stone. It is believed that this is the original stone for Mary Ann, and that several years later the second tombstone which is a beautiful stone, was purchased to mark the grave of Mary Ann STOTTS Smith. This second stone is now broken in half but is still very legible.
