Raymond was the son of Ray Gehres Wetzel and Catherine E (Brown) Wetzel

He died in the South Pacific "Lost at Sea"

Capt. in the United States Marine Corps

He was shot down over the south Pacific, and his body was never found. A plaque with his name is located, with others, in Manila. He also has a plaque located in Fairmount Memorial Cemetery in Spokane Washington , along with his parents(information from Cherie Wetzel)
