Versie Lillian Cowles, 95, of Oakland, died at 10:10 p.m. Dec. 19, 2009, at her home.

The Edmonson County native was a homemaker and a member of Otter Gap Missionary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late S.B. Jaggers and Laura Masterson Jaggers, and the wife of the late Bacle Cowles. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Houchins and two brothers, Willard and Estil "Wendy" Jaggers.

Funeral is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Otter Gap Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green chapel.
