Janet P. Harbison, age 64, of Portage, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2003 at home.

She was born to Bertis and Ruby ADKINS Harbison, September 6, 1938.

Janet had been a Portage resident since 1941 and was a retired clerk/supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service.

She was a member of the Portage #7760 V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post #260 Ladies Auxiliary and A.A.R.P.

She is survived by her close friend and companion, Chester Wilson of Portage; four sons: Richard Everett Braden of Valparaiso, Bertis Franklin Braden of Cedar Lake, Daniel Evans Braden of Paris, TN and Paul Alan, Sr. (Therese) Braden of Portage; daughter, Christine Jean (Chuck) Gibson of Paris, TN; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers: Joseph Ray (Terry) Harbison of Portage, Jerry Wayne (Amy) Harbison of Valparaiso, Toby Bertis (Kim) Guill of Chesterton; three sisters, Karen Sue (Gary) Hott of Portage, Linda Kay (Ron) Kaechle of Lake Station and Cinda Mae (Scott) Bencie of Crown Point; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 6, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, with Rev. Terry C. Rhine officiating. Cremation will follow the services at Calvary Crematory, Portage.

Visitation Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a Portage VFW #7760 Ladies Auxiliary Service at 7:00 p.m., at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 219-762-3013
