Frances D. Barton, 88 of Bartlett, TN passed away peacefully, Monday morning, July 23rd in her home surrounded by her children.

Born in 1924 in Belmont, MS, she was the oldest daughter of the late J.W. (Bill) and Dezzie Davis.

She attended Mississippi State College for Women (currently known as Mississippi University for Women) from 1941-1943. While there she was an active member of the Vespers Choir and a contestant in the Miss Mississippi Pagent. After moving to Memphis, she went to work as an Executive Secretary with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. It was there she met her husband of 44 years, George E. Barton. She retired from Firestone in 1979 after which she and George enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. She returned to college and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Memphis State University (currently known as the University of Memphis) in 1985.

She was an active member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and served as Secretary of her Sunday School Class for many years. She served five years as an organist in the Bethal Grove Chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star before becoming the organist for the Bartlett O.K. Houck Chapter. She enjoyed volunteering at the clothes closet of the Brinkley Heights Church on Rosemont Street.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; brothers Eugene Davis and Harold Davis; and sister Dorothy White. She is survived by her children…Lynn Koozer of Clearwater, FL, Dennis (Janet) Barton of North Fort Myers, FL, Melissa Dawson of Mission Viejo, CA, Bonnie Hazelgrove of Germantown, TN, and Brent (Pam) Barton of Arlington, TN.

She leaves six grandchildren…Terri Cleary of FL, Vickie Lane of CA, Brooke Barton of KY, Brent Barton Jr, Brian Barton, and Austin Hazelgrove, all of TN. She was the great grandmother of four and the great great grandmother of two. She also leaves three sisters, Betty Huntley of Farragut, TN, Peggy (Billy) Rouse of Nettleton, MS, and Patsy (J.C.) Clement of Belmont, MS, a beloved sister-in-law, Carmen Davis of San Antonio, TX, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, at Memorial Park Funeral Home.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 26, also at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
