He came to Herkimer as an infant and attended Herkimer schools. He was elected to the Board of Trustees of the village of Herkimer and he was President for one term.
Mr. Best married Miss Carrie D. Bellinger in Nov. 1888 in Herkimer and they had one daughter, Marjorie Amelia.
Surviving are the widow and daughter and a grandson. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Emma Best Lee of Buffalo, Mrs. William Wright of Herkimer and Mrs. Arthur Calder of Chicago. Four brothers, James A. and Robert Hollingsworth of Jacksonville, Fl., William H. and John H. Hollingsworth of Fulton, NY.
