She was preceded by her first husband, Orville Jones, in 1967 and her second husband, Norman Gouveia, in 1997. No services will be held at Mrs. Gouveia's request.

Orville Jones is listed as Ruth's 1st husband in her obituary, however he was actually her 2nd husband. Mary Ruth was married to Lyle Lee Lister in 1948 and they divorced in 1951. She then married Orville Jones who passed away in 1967 and then married Norman Gouveia in 1977. He passed away in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dale Allen Lister.
