Obituary for Darrel Henry Davis
Tremont - Darrel Henry Davis, 72, of Tremont, died Saturday, July 21, 2012, in Ghana, Africa.
He was born Feb.23, 1940, in Boise, Idaho, to Charles Henry and Grace Ione (Ash) Davis. He married Rhea Turner on Sept. 11, 1964, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He later married Constance "Candy" Garner on July 20, 1996, in Tremont.
Surviving are his wife, Candy Davis of Tremont; his children, Jared (Ashley Leggott) Worthington of Mackinaw, Jeana Worthington of Tremont, Jaime (Eric) Milestone of Washington, Jenny Worthington of Chicago, Jody (James) McKenzie of Washington; Clinton (Chris) Davis of Peoria, Janette (Joe) Dean of Land O Lakes, Fla., Sandra (Matt) Nance of Tucson, Ariz., Deborah Davis of Herriman, Utah, and Douglas (Laura) Davis of Oakdale, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; one great grandchild on the way; his siblings, Martha (Wendell) Solesbee of Yorba Linda, Calif., Linda (Norm) West of Palmer, Alaska, Howard (Susan) Davis of Kanab, Utah, Judy Druyon of Bountiful, Utah; and his little buddies, King Henry and Minnie Pearl.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara and Susie.
Darrel was a member of the ROTC.
He received a civil engineering degree from Brigham Young University.
Darrel retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 2002, as a trainer and consultant in failure analysis. He then started his own business, Failure Analysis Services, and traveled all over the United States, Nova Scotia and Africa providing training.
Prior to his employment at Caterpillar, he owned and operated Davis Auto Body in California and continued to do autobody work on the side.
Darrel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints attending the Pekin Ward. He had served as Bishop for the Morton Ward as well as High Counselor in the Peoria, Illinois Stake.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints in Morton, with Bishop Clint Pincock officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Morton.
Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling local arrangements.
Further services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester, Tenn. Burial will be in ODear Cemetery in Sewanee, Tenn.
