To this union seven children were born. One son,
Ira, died in 1906. Those survivng are Jennie Seago and Mrs. Hugh Tunnell, both of Cheyenne, Mrs. John Lucas, Durham, Mrs. Alex Wells,Albuquerque, New Mexico, Virgil R. Coon, Billings, Montana, and Ralph Coon of Crawford. Twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Coon and his family moved to Roger Mills County, locating on a homestead near Crawford in 1901, where the family resided for many years.In those early days Mr. Coon was active in the organization and
maintaining of schools and churches. He later moved to Cheyenne where he made his home for a number of years.
In his early life he became a member of the Church of Christ to which he remained loyal to the end.
Funeral services were held in the Church of Christ in Cheyenne Wednesday afternoon with J.M. Gilpatrick and C.W. Rhodes, officiating ministers. Committal was in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County,
Oklahoma under the directionof Scroggins Funeral Home.
