She was born on December 14, 1923 to the late William and Hannah (Adler) Graveen, in the Wausau area. She was one of nine children. She liked being part of a big family, and on Valentine's Day in 1942, she married late husband, Lester Frickenstein at Zion Lutheran Church in Stratford, WI. Together they would raise their own large family of six children.
Arlyle enjoyed being outside, she had amazing gardens that for many years have provided fresh food, and beautiful flowers for her and her family. She liked canning and freezing her food from the garden. She was also known for her perfect 10 minute pie crust that would never fall apart, as she was a great baker. Fresh flowers and the smell of lilacs always adorned her home. She also liked spending time fishing, camping, and dancing to Polkas, waltzes, old country, and playing cards with family, and friends. Arlyle was quite the homemaker and accomplished seamstress. Her children remember her making their clothes for all special occasions as they were growing up. In her later years, she had gotten a dog "Taffy", her and "Taffy" would spend every moment possible together. She was also a member of Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wausau, she served on the Ladies Aid, and Alter Guild there. She was also a member of the Rib Mountain Homemakers group.
Arlyle will be sadly missed by her five daughters, Audrey (Dale) Pruss, Wisconsin Rapids, Shirley Kirstein, Wausau, Diane (Michael) Myers, Gilbert, AZ., Cheryl (Gary) MacLeod, Menominee Falls, and Mary Frickenstein, Wausau; son, Gerald (Mary) Frickenstein, Wausau; one sister, Harriet Bossom, Mosinee; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, and three brothers.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 23rd, at Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wausau. Pastor Robert Edwards will officiate.
