His name appears on a "Report of Sick and Wounded" at Gratiot Street Prison Hospital, St. Louis for Feb. 1863. He died on 15 February 1863 of inflammation of the lungs and pneumonia. On the "Certificate for Government Undertaker, John A. Smithers," his height was given as 6 feet. On the carded records, his death was listed as 10 March 1863.
