Chico Enterprise-Record, Friday Evening, February 2, 1950, pg 2 col 3: Alice Mullen Dies Here This Morning. Mrs. Alice Mullen, who had resided in Chico for the past 32 years, died at her home early this morning after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Mullen was born in Iowa, March 24, 1869, and as a very small child crossed the plains in a covered wagon with her parents, who settled in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1891 she married John M. Mullen, who preceded her in death in 1944. At the time of John Mullen's death, he was the oldest living member of the Grand Army of the Republic of Chico, and had he lived for one month longer, would have reached the age of 100 years.
Mrs. Mullen was an active member of the First Christian Church, and until the time of her illness she took part in all activities of the church.
Survivors include a son, Charles Ralph Mullen of Chico, and a daughter, Ethel Jeanne Mullen, also of Chico. There are also numerous nephews and nieces surviving.
Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Chico Cemetery.

Alice May Clanton was the third of six children born to Moses Edward and Louisa Margaret (née Viney) Clanton in Des Moines Iowa.
She was married to John Merritt Mullen – the son of Charles William and Phoebe B. (née Merritt) Mullen at Prescott, Yavapai County, Arizona. The recordation of marriage is in Maricopa County, Prescott on Jan 11, 1892 at volume 1, page 84.
Interred in space just north of John M. Mullen (who is at GAR - Sec 21, lot 138, sp 1), on February 4, 1950, "aged 80 years".
