Jack was born Jan. 21, 1924, in Wheatland, the son of Patrick Joseph and Mary Agnes (Ferguson) Mullen. Jack was reared and educated in Wheatland, and graduated from the Wheatland High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a cowboy for most of his life, and loved to tell stories of when he worked on the Kite Ranch. The Mullen family helped build the first Catholic Church in Wheatland. Jack was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Saint Patrick Catholic Church, and Knight of Columbus in Wheatland.
He is survived by his sister, Margaret Smith, of Concord, Calif., and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hugh and Joe Mullen; and three sisters, Loretta Beihler, Rhea Hand, and Patricia Erickson.
