Mrs. J. S. Roberts died at her home in Forest City, Wednesday, March 9th, 1904, in her 78th year of age. Her maiden name was Melvina Chesney and she was born in Casey county, Kentucky, September 23, 1826. She was twice married; to her first husband, Wm. C. Dick, of Kentucky, and to them four children were born, all of whom survive. Mr. Dick died in this county in 1856. In 1870 she married her now bereaved husband, by whom no children were born. Funeral services were conducted on the 10th inst., by Rev. C. W. Thorp, the body being laid to rest in the Forest City cemetery.
