Orville W. Addington, 95, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004. He was a member of Unitarian Universalist Church of the Highlands and was an avid golfer and bridge player. Mr. Addington was a Navy veteran and a retired professor of math from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Constance Bowman Addington.Survivors include his sister-in-law, June Bowman Owens of Abingdon; one brother, Omer C. Addington of Gate City; special friend and caregiver, Nancy V. Abel of Abingdon; special nephew, Luther (Ed) Chapman, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins.A special thank you is extended from the family to caregivers Sue, Dorothy, Lola, Pat, and Ed. A graveside service will be held Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, with Bob Hill officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials donations be made to a charity of one's choice.
