Carl J. Reitmayer, 82, WaKeeney, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita. He was born May 14, 1923, in rural Ellis County to John and Clara (Schuster) Reitmayer.


He graduated from Trego Community High School in 1943 and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was the owner-operator of Sears Catalog Store, WaKeeney, retiring in 1982.


He married Betty Pfannenstiel on April 12, 1955, in Collyer.


Survivors include his wife, of the home; two brothers, Clem Reitmayer, Quinter, and William Reitmayer, WaKeeney; 3 sisters, Mary Aschenbrenner, WaKeeney, Anna Rohn, Colby, and Minnie Kersiek, Wiggins, Colo.


Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney, burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney. A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.


Memorials are suggested to Masses or the Christ the King Catholic Cemetery Fund in care of the mortuary.
