Edna Fern McClain, 87, of Crest View Manor Nursing Home, and formerly of Deanville, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003. She was born at Crawford on Oct. 27, 1915, a daughter of the late Taylor Hargrove and Flossie Cassetta (nee McQuain) McClain. She is survived by several cousins. She was the last surviving member of her family, having been preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Pearl McClain; and one brother, Ralph McClain. She devoted most of her life taking care of her mother and father, and after their death caring for her sister. She was a switch board operator at Walkersville for the telephone company and was retired from the Weston Hospital, where she was in charge of the sewing room. Friends will be received at Robert M. Vincent Funeral Home in French Creek. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday with the Rev. Conrad Tenney officiating. Burial will follow in Chestnut Flat Cemetery. Robert M. Vincent funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
