HARLEY L. SLATE

CANDOR -- Harley L. Slate, 88, of Candor, died today, Tuesday, July 9, 1985, at home after a long illness. He was born Jan. 1 1897, in Candor, a son of the late Francis and Mary Louise Compton Slate.
Mr. Slate was a self-employed dairy farmer in Candor. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War I in France. He was a member of the Candor American Legion and the Allen Memorial Baptist Church of Candor.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel L. Slate of Candor; two daughters, Marian G. Anderson and Joyce E. Middaugh, both of Candor; a son, Raymond L. Slate of Berkshire; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Allen-Manzer Funeral Home in Candor with the Rev. Dale Woods officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Candor.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Candor American Legion Ambulance.
