After high school, the strikingly beautiful woman immediately moved back to New York and transformed herself from a small town Midwestern girl to a sophisticated city beauty, enrolling in the Powers Modeling School and changing her name to Gregg Sherwood, and her hair color from brown to platinum blond. After a brief first marriage ended, she returned to work as a model and actress in small roles on TV, stage and films. She played the role of a showgirl in 'The Merry Widow' with Fernando Lamas and Lana Turner.. Later reports erroneously described her as a showgirl.
