Eugene was the son of Charles & Belle (Mansfield) Pauth. He was the 2nd born of their 5 children. His siblings were Anna (Pauth) Leon; Alvie Pauth aka George Ferguson; Miner Pauth and Eunice (Pauth) Goodrich. Born in Little Falls he spent his youth in New York state. He attented Folts Institute in Herkimer, NY where he attended ministerial school.

He married Alice Louise Buttery August 14, 1898 in Waterloo, Seneca County, New York. From this union their daughter was born who died in infancy and one son Earl Pauth.

Eugene served in the US Navy during WWI. He and his family resided in New York, Virginia, and Florida where his wife Alice sung soprano in the Sebring Choral Society Choir. They also resided in Groton, CT for awhile. After his military service Eugene's occupation was a Methodist Clergyman. He also worked as an insurance agent for a time. It is written that he was engaged in evangelistic and ministerial work all his life. Also that he enjoyed writing and many manuscripts attest to this industry.
