ISLAND FALLS – Charles Leslie MacKenzie, 90, died July 18, 2012, in Patten. He was born Nov. 19, 1921, in Island Falls, the son of Harry and Marion (Fowler) MacKenzie.

He was employed at Great Northern Paper Co. for 30 years before retiring from Georgia Pacific. He was a member of Island Falls United Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling the country.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lona (Chute) MacKenzie of Island Falls; three sons, Leslie and his wife, Norma MacKenzie, of Sunset, Keith MacKenzie of Island Falls and Darren and Myra MacKenzie of San Diego; four grandchildren, Mark and his wife, Christina MacKenzie, of Long Wood, Fla., Jill and her husband, Douglas Carter, of Sunset, Sally MacKenzie and her fiance, Ben Darkin, of Sydney and Jenny MacKenzie of San Diego; one very special great-grandson, Dylan MacKenzie; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a close friend, Ronnie Hartin. He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Richard Lee; a brother, Ralph; and a sister, Helen Stevens.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Island Falls Cemetery with the Rev. Ben Greene officiating. (Bangor Daily News posted 7/20/2012)
