Opal Leona (Ake) Holt-Bowles, 92, of North Enid, passed away in the early hours of June 1, 2020 just 5 days short of the 76th Anniversary of her husband Jerald landing at Normandy. Opal was born on April 1, 1928 to Almer and Rosie Ake in the Orion Community, West of Fairview. She passed at home fulfillling her wishes of passing at home. The home husband Jerald built for them. Opal is survived by four sons, Reverend Jerald (Jerry) Holt and wife Shirley of Enid, Lonnie Mack and wife Jannett of Kremlin, Roger LaRue of North Enid, and Alan Lane of North Enid; sister, Willa Dean Mollett of Orion and J.L. Ake of Wichita, as well as twelve grandchildren and twenty-Two great-grandchildren. Opal was preceded in passing by her husband, Jerald Mack Holt and Donovan Bowles, her parents, Almer and Rosie Ake, a son, Danny Lee, a daughter, Karen Lynn (Holt) Carris, brothers, Ernest, Clifford, Everett, Lloyd(killed in action in Europe), and Frank, sisters Elsie (Ake) Turner, Nettie (Ake) Gunsaulis, and Zella, all originally of Orion, grandson, Sean Carris, granddaughters, Tracey and Melissa Ann.
