The daughter of Abner Classen and Angeline Alice (Harris) White, she was born January 28, 1900, at Wood River, Neb., and married in February 1918 to Edward H. Barnes. She moved to this area and lived with his parents while he served in World War I. He died January 3, 1919, and she was married May 18, 1925, to George J. Mennealy at Maryville, MO. They lived at Grant where her husband was a carpenter. She worked for a time at Jarvis cafe in Grant and during World War II was a waitress at Hanford, Wash. Her husband died March 11, 1955. She lived the last 14 years in Griswold with her daughter.
Mrs. Mennealy was a member of the United Methodist Church, a 61-year member of the Grant American Legion Auxiliary, a former member of the Grant Sunshine Club and other neighborhood and social clubs.
Survivors include daughter Edna Sunderman of Griswold; a granddaughter Debie Stolk and her husband David of Casey, IA; two great-granddaughters, Shannon and Anthea Stolk of Casey; and one sister Gertrude Stone of Oceanside, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Barnes on January 3, 1919; her husband George Mennealy on March 11, 1955; a son-in-law Wilber Sunderman on Feb. 9, 1991; six brothers and five sisters.
