All that's known about Isabel Green was she was born in VA about 1761.
They had 3 known children: Martha Jane Donnelly Harding, John Donly & Margaret "Peggy" Donnelly Greer.
He was granted & bought land in what was once considered NC until TN came along. Then it was considered in Davidson County TN.
He & only son John were both thought to have fought w/ the TN Militia under Capt. Mullon's Co. in the War of 1812.
His daughter Martha was mentioned at least twice. Once she & her husband Giles Harding & two of their sons - James & Peter Perkins Harding - were all mentioned. Finally in his will he claims his son John & son-in-law Benjamin Greer tried to defraud his other heirs the children of his daughter Martha Harding.
Between headstones & the LeFlore family bible they claim his son Major John Donly did indeed spell his name Donly. The next generations used Donnelly, Donly & Donely. 2 of Major John Donly's daughters married Greenwood LeFlore - first Rosa then Priscilla.
The book also claims that in 1990 Beatrice "Bea" Russell, a very great grandchild of James & Isabel, went to the TN archives in Nashville & located the Greer-Donley Cemetery records. She was told by neighbors in the area that the cemetery had been vandalized about 20 years earlier. But she was able to find the broken stones of James, his son John & his daughter Margaret "Peggy" Greer. It's assumed this cemetery is located on the original Donnelly &/or Greer homestead.
