FREDERICK CARL HAAK, 90, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, in Sun City West, Ariz. Born Dec. 6, 1921, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Christina and Ewald Haak. Fred's father had his own barber shop in downtown Fort Wayne for many years. Fred graduated from North Side High School in 1940 and went on to graduate from Indiana University with a degree in Chemistry. During the war years, he was Head Chemist at GE, in Fort Wayne. He then went to work for Farnsworth Labs, which is where he met his beloved wife, Irene (Kirk), whom he married Nov. 30, 1950. For all of their marriage, they loved and enjoyed each other always; building their home together, traveling, summers at the lake, trips to the races, many years with the Lamplighters Dance club and many rallies in their 1957 MGA. At Farnsworth Labs, Fred worked on the manufacture of television tubes and later, with ITT, he was involved in the development of night vision technology for the military. He coached Little League and Connie Mac Junior Federation Baseball for many years and was a member of the Jaycees. After his retirement, he enjoyed golf and winters in Florida and Arizona with Irene, as well as fishing trips for Walleye with friends to Canada. "Fred was a loyal and loving husband and father and will be remembered for his fun loving nature and sense of humor as well as a kind and compassionate heart. He will also be remembered as a wonderful friend to many."
