Jacob settled in the Knox Township area of Columbiana County around 1804, just when Ohio was being settled. His first marriage was to Margaret, last name possibly Conrad. That marriage was on January 27, 1814. They were the parents of 3 daughters & 1 son. Margaret and a young child were killed by lightning on June 1, 1822. It could be assumed that their daugher Esther, who was born in 1816, may have been the young child killed with Margaret. There has been no other information found on Margaret or Esther.
