ECKHART, Md. - Violet "Dot" Ruth Michaels, 101, of Eckhart died Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Frostburg Village Nursing Center.
Born in Kitzmiller, Md., on Dec. 9, 1907, she was the daughter of the late John Walter and Mary Isa (Calhoun) Solomon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Michaels; a daughter, Joan Albright; and one great-great-granddaughter, Aleigh.
Mrs. Michaels was an avid bingo player, and loved watching Orioles baseball.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Yost and husband, Curtis, of Eckhart, and Linda Alkire and husband, Timothy, of Eckhart; two sons, John Robert "Bob" and daughter-in-law, Jan, of LaVale, Md., and Larry T. Michaels and wife, Sandi, of Hagerstown; son-in-law, Charles Albright; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday, June 20, 2009, at noon with Father Ty Hullinger officiating.
Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery.
