Mrs. Mattie "Mae" Allen Hall, 75, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, August 17, 2009, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Hall was born June 29, 1934, in Patrick County, VA, to Jasper & Ella Mae Cloud Allen. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and attended Maple Grove United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters & sons-in-law, Susie & Steve Hall and Carolyn & Haley Cockerham, all of Mount Airy; a son & daughter-in-law, Jimmy & Sandy Hall of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Kevin Hall & wife, Amie, of Dobson, Bambi Craver & husband, Terry, of Yadkinville, and Kimberly "Kim" Hall & fiancé, Marc Driggers, of Mount Airy; great-grandchildren, Sydney Craver and Chris Hall; and sisters, Zelma Midkiff of Mount Airy and Ruth Hall of Boonville. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Clevie Hall; a grandson, Christopher Eugene Hall; sisters, Leadie Busick and Thelma Hicks; and brothers, Elmer Allen, Jim Allen, Bill Allen, and Charlie Allen. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Maple Grove United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Richard Buffkin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Woltz Hospice Home for the wonderful care and love shown to Mrs. Hall during her illness.
