Frankie L. Vontress, 95, passed quietly at her home on May 28, 2012.

Frankie was born Sept. 17, 1916, in Warren County, Ky., to the late David and Cora Lillard.

She was married to her devoted husband, the late John L. Vontress, for 62 years.

Frankie confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the Blue Level Baptist Church, located outside of Bowling Green, Ky.

Frankie was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, knitting and cooking.

She was a foster parent for a brief time. This led her toward caring in her home for several children from the community.

In recent years, she enjoyed spending most of her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Frankie leaves to cherish her memories three children, Mingo (Charlyn) Vontress, Felicia Skipper and Matoka (Eddie) Nunn; 18 grandchildren, Manuelito (Royal) Skipper, Montoya Skipper, Mancha Skipper, Mankia (Sindja) Skipper, April (Lionel) Barnes, Autumn Skipper, Edward Nunn, Nathan (LaShay) Nunn, Maurice Nunn, Jennelle (Darnell) Williams, John Nunn, Whitney Maxwell, Brittany Cox, Elaine Vontress, Mingo Joseph Vontress Jr., Layla Allen, Madison Vontress and Elizabeth Vontress; and a host of other family and friends.

Frankie was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Vontress; sisters, Jessie Marshall, Margurite Fishback, Gladys Faulker, Alice Davis, Ollie Vass, Myrtle Ruth Vontress and Cora Gray; and brothers, Harry D. Lillard and Joseph A. Lillard.

Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson.
