YOUNGSTOWN ­ Memorial services were officiated by the Rev. Russ Adams at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman for Richard J. "Fat Cat" Mahaffey, 62, who passed away on Sunday at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center after a short illness. Richard was born Nov. 27, 1949, in Youngstown, a son of William and Cecile Evans Mahaffey. He was a sprinkler fitter, a member of Local No. 6699 and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He is survived by his three children, Eric, R.J. and Brooke of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Carole (Douglas) Zinni of Mesquite, Nev.; a sister-in-law, Tuula Mahaffey of Escondido, Calif.; a nephew, Dan Hale of Phoenix; cousins; and friends who were his family. Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, William Mahaffey.
