LEWISBURG - Eleanor I. Casselberry, 84, of 134 Hospital Drive, died early Wednesday morning, Feb. 25, 2009, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

She was born May 4, 1924, in Huntersville, a daughter of the late Alvin E. and Mary Martha (Tallman) Barto. She was married for 32 years to Walter F. Casselberry Sr., who preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1974.

She was a 1942 graduate of the Hughesville High School.

Eleanor was a nursing assistant for 20 years at the Lewisburg United Methodist Nursing Home, now RiverWoods, and was formerly employed in an Army PX and was an Avon representative.

She was a member and one of the founders of the Lewisburg Bible Church and member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 394.

Eleanor enjoyed sewing, crafts and gardening.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Walter T. Casselberry and Grace N. James; six great-grandchildren; three nephews, Jeffrey Barto, Gary W. Hendershot and Gene L. Green; one niece, Elizabeth Stauver; one sister, Eileen Green; one sister-in-law, Virginia Barto; and one daughter-in-law, Sue K. Casselberry.
