Elias Franklin Elrod, 66, prominent Brushy Creek man who had resided there since he was an infant, died at his home at 4:45 p.m. Monday after a few days illness.
Funeral services were held at Olive Branch cemetery Tuesday at 3 p.m., Rev. G.C. Cecil of Neches officiating.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jewel Elrod; eight sons: G.F. Elrod of New York City, J.H. Elrod, L.A. Elrod, S.A. Elrod, F.M. Elrod and C.C. Elrod, all of Palestine, W.D. Elrod of Selman City and Raymond Elrod of Tyler; two daughters: Mrs. R.G. Freeman and Miss Ruth Elrod of Brushy Creek; two brothers: J.D. Elrod of Brushy Creek and S.W. Elrod of Houston; three sisters: Mrs. W.L. Welborn and Mrs. E.M. Welborn of Palestine and Mrs. Jesse Waddell of Brushy Creek and twenty-five grandchildren.
