Mr Teal was 68 years 2 months 20 days, and a widow when he passed away in Crockett, Texas, birth date shown as August 7, 1873.

He was born in 1868 in Crockett, Texas, the son of Jake Teal who passed away when Mr Teal was very young, so he was reared by an Uncle George Johnson who was a tin smith. From this kind Uncle, George learned the trade of a tinner. He attended public schools in Houston County and finished. In later years he married Mary Howard and opened a shop of his own.

His shop was in front of the present Post Office. From here, he served the whole county by covering buildings and bins with galvanized tin, making tanks, hanging gutters for running water in homes, making tin stoves, stove pipes, syrup vats, skimmers, head lights for the coal miners, wash tubs and any kind of container made of tin.

George Teal was a respected and loved contributor to the community and county, dependable and valuable.

Seven children were born to Mary Howard and George, three girls and four boys: Edgar W, Chester A, Pearl C, Espanola A, Artelia L, Johnson W and Layton W Teal.
