Generee Adelia Newingham was a daughter of Charles Ulyssis Newingham and Patience Prudence Inman. She was married to Levi Jeremiah Sorrells 15 Feb. 1864 in Elkhorn, Brown Co., IL. They had the following children:
Lucy Susagnes, Thomas, George, Mary R., Joshua Palatine, Jeanetta B., John Enoch, Lydia, Levi Henry, Marretta Mae, Willard Washburn, Hiram Newell, Essie Pearl.

Generee was raised by her brother Hiram N. and his wife Catherin (Mariah Catherine Depute) Newingham. Generee's brother, Hiram N. and his wife, Catherin also signed the declaration for a widow's pension for Geniree and listed their address as Roodhouse, Greene Co., IL.

Mrs. Adelia Sorrel died Wednesday, March 28th. She was born in Brown county in 1852. She was the mother of thirteen children, nine of whom are living. She belonged to the Union Baptist Church; was a good mother and was ready to die. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Walters at the home of one of her sons. The remains were taken to the Gillette cemetery, six miles southeast of Rushville.(Oakwood)
