Frederick Alan Krone, 70, Chanute, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at the Via Christi St. Francis campus in Wichita.
He was born May 6, 1931, in Chanute, the son of Frank and Violet Reed Krone.
He graduated from Chanute High School in 1949 and attended Neosho County Community College.
He served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Navy.
He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 20 years, retiring as a switchman/brakeman.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of VFW Post 1654.
On April 18, 1964, he married Rosalie Hill in Chanute. She died June 17, 1994.
On Oct. 9, 1999, he married Ruby Lemon. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Jamie Krone and Jane Magathan, both of Independence, Mo.; three stepsons, Roger Williams, Rick Williams and Tommy Lemon, all of Chanute; a stepdaughter, Angela Fritz, Fredonia; a brother, Neil Krone, Chanute; two sisters, Martha Hoog, St. Genivieve, Mo., and Margaret Demchok, Longwood, Fla.; and eight step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Frederick Krone Jr.; a daughter, Sandra Mock; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Johnson Mortuary, led by the Rev. R. A. Pefley. Internment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 1654.
