Widow of Late Joseph Meredith Succumbs after Short Illness From Pneumonia

Mrs. Mary E. Meredith, the widow of the late Joseph Meredith, and a well known former resident of Christian County died at 12:30 o'clock Sunday morning at the home of Mrs. And Mrs. George Deal at Morrisonville, with whom she was visiting, after an illness of pneumonia. Mrs. Meredith came to Morrisonville several weeks ago from Ramsey, where she had been making her home with her granddaughters.

Mrs. Meredith was born October 10, 1849, near Seaforth, Delaware, the eldest child of William B. and Margaret A. Adams. When 19 years old, she came, with her parents, to Illinois, the family locating on a farm west of Taylorville.

On June 15, 1869 she was united in marriage to Joseph Meredith. They engaged in farming in South Fork Township where they lived until Mr. Meredith's death, October 9, 1906. Their one child, Mrs. Melissa Wilson passed away October 9, 1929.

Surviving are her four grandchildren Carl Wilson and Mrs. Lois Rhodes of New York; Mrs. Aline Rhodes and Miss Grace Wilson of Ramsey; two brothers, E. F. Adams of Chicago and Herman Adams of Tulsa, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. Katy Nichols, Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. R. W. Harris of Pana and Mrs. Laura Bula of Stonington and two stepdaughter, Mrs. George Deal of this city and Mrs. Charlotte Lovelace of Bingham.

Arrangements for the funeral are incomplete. A. I. Storks, of funeral director of Morrisonville, is in charge.

Funeral services for Mrs Mary E Meredith, who died Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs George Diehl in Morrisonville will be held at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Morrisonville Methodist church, Rev. Roy Doland, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the Anderson cemetery near Palmer.
