They were a farming family. Their farm was in Alvin Township, Polk County Missouri.
John was in the civil war in the Union army. He volunteered 3 different times and was finally mustered out of service on June 28, 1865 at Springfield Missouri.. He served with Company E, Eighth Regiment, Missouri State Militia Cavalry.
John Needham was my great great grandfather. I do not have a photo of him but I do have his army papers.
John died February 14, 1882 at the age of 40. We have no record as to what caused his death at such a young age. It is noted that John was buried at the Union Township, No. 8, located Northwest of Aldrich in Polk County, Missouri.
