Frank Bobbitt was the youngest child of NC born parents, Isham Drury & Cythina Ann (Haggard) Bobbitt. His parents met in KY after their parents left NC.

Frank was born 15 Jun 1826 in Hancock Co, IL. the youngest of 5 children.

Frank's 4 known siblings were:

4. Malissa D. b. 27 Jun 1835,

m. Geo. Washington Mayes, 24 Dec 1850,
Tazewell Co, 4 ch.

During the Civil War Frank enlisted in the Union Army. On 15 Aug 1862 he was a Private in Company B of the 77th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. On 21 Dec 1862 he was discharged. It appears he joined for only 6 months as was what many volunteers did. (Note his wife Cecilia's brothers John & Barney Kennedy also served. John was a POW for over a year and Barney died in the horrendous Andersonville POW camp.)

Some years after the war while still living in Putnam County, Illinois Frank met the love of his life, Cecilia Kennedy. She was the youngest child of James & Margaret (Cottrell) Kennedy. The couple married on 5 May 1873 in Magnolia, Putnam Co, IL.

Frank and Cecilia had 5 Bobbitt children:
1. Frederick Winchester,
1875-1925, (buried with his parents)
2. Wm Bertley,
1879 - aft Sep 1918
3. Francis Bert,
1881 - aft Apr 1930
4. Clifford Thomas,
1884 - 1963
5. Josephine,
1883 - aft Apr 1930

While in Putnam County Frank worked in a variety of jobs, he was the County tax Collector, Operated a Hardware/Stove store and was a butcher. The family was still living there in 1879.

In the 1880 Census, Frank, Cecilia and 2 children along with Frank's mother Cynthia were all living in Liberty, Richardson Co, NE. Before 1899 when they were living in the Indian Territory of OK they also lived in KS & MO.

Frank died young at the age of 49. Originally Frank was buried elsewhere as Rose Hill Cemetery was not yet open in 1899. This cemetery's records show that on 2 Apr 1918 he was reburied in this cemetery. Frank's grave is next to his wife Cecilia and next comes his son Frederick.

Only Frank, Cecilia and Frederick are buried here, (there are 5 empty plots). None of their other children or grandchildren are known to be in Rose Hill.
