Alvin LaVerne McLinn, 68 of Garden City, Kansas died Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born March 16, 1944 in Garden City, Kansas the son of Ira Myrian & Betty Jane (Killfoil) McLinn, Sr.

Alvin grew up with his family in the Plymell Community. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1962 and attended Garden City Junior College. He served his country in the United States Army from May 12, 1965 to May 7, 1967 as an x-ray technician. After the service, Alvin returned to Garden City where he became a lifetime farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Garden City Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his mother Betty McLinn of Garden City, Kansas; three brothers Ira Myrian & wife Carol McLinn of Garden City, Ks., Lonny & wife Debbie McLinn of Ulysses, Ks., & Duane & wife Carolyn McLinn of Garden City, Ks.; three sisters Darlene & husband Rick Van Meter of Garden City, Ks., Pamela & husband Stephen Winder of Garden City, Ks., & Annette & husband Dan Rapp of Salina, Ks.; 13 nephews & nieces; 3 great nephews; 1 great niece; and 6 step-nephews and nieces.

Alvin is preceded in death by his father and a sister Carol Ann Kohl.
