VERNON C. ANDERSON, a twenty-five-year-old Lineman of one year of experience in the Electric Operations Department in the Northern Illinois Division and seven years of service at Northern Illinois Utilities , had been upgraded to a Crew Leader on Wednesday June 11, 1958 when he lost his life while working in Genoa, Illinois. He was shocked by contact with a wire that was supposed to be de-energized but was at a potential of 4160 volts above ground. His right foot, through his climbing spur, contacted a secondary wire running down the pole to a meter and his left leg contacted service wires.
