Anna married Chris Gerken on March 1, 1878, at Zion Lutheran Church, Lincoln, Missouri. She died about a month after he did, of dropsy. Her funeral was held on June 27, 1904, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Arthur, Texas. She was survived by four sons (Henry, William, August, and Carl) and two daughters (Mary and Johanna).

In 1980 Greenlawn Cemetery confirmed that Mr. C. Gerken (Christian), Mrs. C. Gerken (Anna), and M. Gerken (Martin) are buried there, but no tombstones were found in the location where the cemetery records indicate that they are buried.
