As often occurred during and after these unstable times of the War Between the States, with families uprooted and on the move to escape being ostracized during Reconstruction as well as in search of a way to survive —feed and clothe their families, educations interrupted, many spellings of names were changed. Essary/Ussery are the same family.

NOTE: the newspaper article with Dora's obituary is dated 31 Dec 1909, so there's some discrepancy as her stone says 1910, but no less love.
