Thomas Gray Blankenship was born August 10, 1929 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho to Elias and Francis Blankenship. His family moved frequently throughout Idaho following his father's employment. The family moved to Pullman in 1944 where Tom graduated from Pullman High School in 1947. He joined the Coast Guard in 1947 and was honorably discharged in 1949. Later that year, on October 7, 1950, he married Beverly Barton.

In 1960, they moved to Wenatchee, Washington where he worked in plumbing and heating and later in service station repair.

In 1979, Tom returned to Pullman. he was employed as a Mechanical Estimator at the physical Plane at Washington State University until his retirement.

Tom was a member of the masonic Loadge, the Shriners and the Pullman Moose Lodge. Tom loved his wood boats and enjoyed boating on lake Coeur D' Alene and Priest Lake throughout his life.

He is survived by his son mark Blankenship and his wife Linda of Spokane, Washington; his brother-in-law Donald R. Barton and his wife Barbie and their family, as well as, his brother Jerry's family.

Tom was preceded in death by his son Jeff Blankenship and his brother Jerry Blankenship.
